Jewelry Making Classes by Maria Delgado-Pontani at Medford Company Store

Chain Maille: Learn basic chain maille techniques including Hana Gusari, and Byzantine. From there, we'll delve together into the 4 in one and 6 in one patterns which, contrary to popular belief, are not the simplest to master.

Kit includes: 2 flat nose pliers, findings, and 300 each 12mm, 10mm and 8mm aluminum jump rings in your choice of color.

Wire Work: Starting with 20 gauge anodized copper wire, we'll work with pliers, jigs, and a variety of other tools to construct chains, necklaces and earrings in your choice of patterns.

Kit includes: flat & chain nose pliers, findings and enough wire to complete a set.

Wire Wrapping: Starting with 20 and 24 gauge anodized copper wire, you'll select a stone to create your own unique pendant. We'll also cover cage construction.

Kit includes: your choice of stone and the wire needed to complete the pendant.

Metal Clay: We'll explore the world of metal clays to create charms, pendants, earrings, whatever you desire. First timers will start with CopprClay since it's not only less expensive [so you can make "mistakes" and not have the hurt!] but also fairly easy to work. Both copper and bronze clay fired pieces can be embedded into PMC [fine silver] pieces prior to firing the silver. You'll be surprised what those "mistakes" can be used for!! Copper and Bronze clays require overnight firing so the classes will be over two sessions with at least one night in between. Silver we can do in a day depending on the size of the piece[s] constructed but it might be a good idea to allow for two sessions as well.

Kit includes: a complete metal clay tool kit, starter pack of clay [100 grams copper or bronze; 16 grams silver], findings, and polishing pads.

For all classes, additional materials, tools, etc. will be available for purchase at discounted prices.

Class times and days are flexible.
